Height 10.25 in., Diameter 9.5 in. Weight 12 lbs. This large and heavy Waterford crystal footed centerpiece vase is of impressive scale and quality, the conical form rising from a broad circular domed foot to a widely flaring rim, the entire surface deeply wheel cut with an elaborate pattern combining vertical fan cuts, intersecting star and pinwheel motifs, a band of fine pillar cuts at the waist and a fan and arch pattern on the foot -- the cutting crisp and well defined with the exceptional light refraction that is the hallmark of Waterford full lead crystal. Waterford Crystal of Waterford, Ireland, tracing its origins to 1783 and re-established in 1947, is among the most celebrated names in crystal production worldwide, renowned for its deeply cut lead crystal that combines traditional Anglo-Irish brilliant cutting with precision craftsmanship. The pattern on this vase -- combining vertical fans, crosshatch stars and pillar cuts -- is consistent with the Waterford cutting vocabulary of the mid to late 20th century, likely from the 1960s through 1980s production period. The piece carries the Waterford foil label and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or cloudiness, the cut surfaces retaining their original sharpness and the glass its full brilliance and weight.
