Height 8.75 in., Width 6.5 in., Depth 6.5 in., 2 lbs. 9.3 oz. Signed Tiffany & Co. on underside. This large clear crystal ball pitcher by Tiffany and Co stands 8.75 inches tall and is of generous spherical form with a short cylindrical neck, pinched spout and applied loop handle, the broad globular body wheel engraved with a continuous frieze of naturalistic botanical decoration depicting lily of the valley -- with characteristic paired oval leaves and pendant bell-shaped flowers on arching stems -- interspersed with wheat or barley sprays and small berry clusters, the engraving executed in a combination of polished bright and matte frosted surfaces that give the decoration exceptional three dimensional depth and luminosity against the clear crystal ground. At 8.75 inches tall this is a substantial serving pitcher of a scale suited to lemonade, iced tea or water service, the generous spherical body providing excellent volume while the elegant wheel engraved botanical decoration elevates it from a purely functional object to a decorative centerpiece. The ball pitcher form was produced by Tiffany and Co in several engraved botanical patterns during the mid to late 20th century, and the lily of the valley subject -- a flower long associated with purity, happiness and luck -- was a recurring motif across the Tiffany decorative arts vocabulary in silver, crystal and enamel. The base should carry the Tiffany and Co signature confirming attribution. Condition is very good with the engraving crisp and well defined, no chips or cracks to the body or spout and the crystal retaining full clarity and brilliance.
