The hinged oval dome lid is separately worked in repoussE gilt brass with a flowing foliate and abstract line pattern in relief, fitting neatly over a round glass ink pot insert below. The combination of gilt brass metalwork with malachite green glass is identical in treatment to Lot 032 and the two pieces are clearly from the same Tiffany and Co design series, likely intended as a coordinated desk set. Tiffany and Co has produced desk accessories in gilt brass and colored glass since the Louis Comfort Tiffany period, and this pierced metalwork with green glass aesthetic draws directly on that distinguished tradition of luxury desk accessories.
