Sight Height 8 in., Width 9 in. Framed Height 16 in., Width 20 in. Expressive watercolor and ink composition depicting a lively group of ten dancing figures rendered in Jean Dufys characteristic fluid line and vibrant color palette. The figures are animated through gestural black contour lines and washes of violet, magenta, ochre, blue, and soft pastel tones. The rhythmic arrangement and spontaneous brushwork convey movement and musicality, hallmarks of Dufys festive scenes. Signed lower right and presented in a gilt frame with mat. Jean Dufy, brother of Raoul Dufy, was celebrated for his depictions of social gatherings, orchestras, racing scenes, and animated crowds, executed with lyrical color and confident draftsmanship.
