Height 15.5 in., Width 11.25 in. Imprimerie Chaix, Paris. This original stone lithograph by Chicago Art Nouveau pioneer Frank Hazenplug depicts a red-haired woman seated with her back to the viewer in a boldly simplified two-color composition of terracotta red and warm grey, the bold display lettering Living Posters arranged vertically alongside the figure and the attribution Designed by Frank Hazenplug -- Printed by Stone and Kimball Chicago inscribed in the lower margin. The design was created by Hazenplug as a poster for a charity benefit event in Chicago focused on poster art, and was selected by Jules Cheret for inclusion in Les Maitres de lAffiche -- the celebrated series of 256 reduced-scale stone lithographs published monthly by the Imprimerie Chaix in Paris between 1895 and 1900, reproducing the finest poster art of the Belle Epoque era for subscribers. This impression carries the Imprimerie Chaix blindstamp at lower left and the Les Maitres de lAffiche plate designation confirming it as an authentic original lithograph from the 1897 publication.
