Upon his return home from serving in World War IIs Ghost Army (603rd Camouflage engineer unit), Ed Eugene Boccia earned a bachelors degree and masters degree at Columbia University. He then served as Dean and professor of art at Columbus Art School in Ohio where he introduced his students to his Bauhaus-inspired teaching methods. in 1951, he began his career at Washington University in St. Louis where he taught painting for more than 30 years until his retirement in 1986. A prolific studio artist, Boccias work thematically fits squarely in the mid-20th century with subjects that consider personal loss and struggle, contemporary society, spirituality, religion, and the complexities and tragedies of life. Boccias works are included in over 600 private and public collections.
