40 in. Width x 60 in. Height; Signed and Dated 1968, this is an abstract painting titled "Mootza" by Stanley Twardowicz, featured on the cover of Art in America's "New Talent Annual 1958." Twardowicz's work was exhibited in prominent museums including the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, and the Carnegie Institute. His painting “Number 11–1955†was part of the Museum of Modern Art's exhibitions in 1957 and 1969. Known for his Color Field Paintings, Twardowicz created his iconic "Ovals" using an airbrush to form concentric bands of color, inspired by Zen and tide pools. He was also associated with the Scholarship Education and Defense Fund for Racial Equality (SEDF) and exhibited at the Peridot Gallery in NYC.
