This early 20th century watercolor features a harbor scene with small boats and red tiled roof buildings, a scene typical of the artists work. Snell often painted in the fishing port town of Martigues in the South of France, a spot often referred to as the Venice of Provence. A well-respected artist of his time, Snell exhibited extensively at the Royal Academy as well as the Paris Salon.
