This early 20th century watercolor on paper features a beautiful scene most likely of the fishing port town of Martigues in the South of France, a location where Snell painted beginning in 1905. His work is deeply influenced by the British landscape tradition, but also by the French Impressionists. Snells work was shown extensively at the Royal Academy in 45 exhibitions.
