Sight height 66.5 in, width 42 in, Frame height 67 in, width 42.5 in. Indian Pichwai Painting on Fabric Depicting Krishna and Gopis.

In the Krishna and Gopis story, During his youthful years at Vrindavan, Krishna playfully steals the clothes of the gopis (cowherds) who are bathing, leaving them vulnerable and naked. This event is often interpreted as a metaphor for the need to shed worldly attachments and release ego in order to embrace a complete devotion to God. The gopis, initially embarrassed and shamed, realizing they have been tricked, beg for Krishna to return their clothing. Eventually they recognize Krishna's divine nature and surrender their clothes to him.

These paintings often illustrate Krishnas life and were temple hangings.
