Sight 11.5 in. height, 11.5 in. width, Frame 16 in height, 16 in. width. This rare blue silk embroidered section, of Gujarat in Western India, is densely embroidered in deep blue, cream and teal. Parsi embroidery, also known as Parsi Gara embroidery, is a unique art form originating in Persia and traveling to India. It's characterized by intricate, often floral, designs embroidered on silk threads, creating a blend of Persian and Indian influences. The term gara refers to the specific embroidery technique and the type of saris often adorned with this motif. The central image is on a dark blue ground with gold-beaded and metallic wire embroidery. The piece is backed and layered with additional textile borders in beige and teal. Framed.
