Height 7.5 in., width 3.5 in., depth 2 in. Total weight with base 496 grams. The embodiment of compassion, Kwan Yin is known as she who hears the cries of the world. One of Buddhisms most beloved bodhisattvas, she also holds a special place in the hearts of people of other faiths, including Daoists and Confucianists. Kuan Yin originated in India as Avalokiteshvara, a male bodhisattva. In the early centuries of the Common Era, Avalokiteshvara was introduced to China, where female forms of the bodhisattva emerged in the eighth century.
