frame: 26.5 in. length x 23.25 in. width;sight: 11.5 in. length x 9.25 in. width,A Man of Van Diemen's Land: is an engraving by John Webber (1751-1793) that was published in London in 1784. The engraving depicts an Aboriginal Tasmanian man, body markings, and Tasmania, and was inspired by a drawing that was inscribed as "A man of New Holland.” The engraving was created after Captain James Cook (1728-1779) encountered a man from Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) during his third voyage from 1776-1780.
